Marshall Splashes Down at Splashcast

Marshall finally posted the good news that he accepted an exciting position at Splashcast as the Director of Content!  The Splashcast blog also posted a welcome note to Marshall.  The Splashcast beta start in January, and you can request an invite on their web site.  Congrats Marshall!

Hello, and Thanks

Many thanks to those who came out last night for Portland Social Media Geek Dinner with guest Chris Heuer.  The general consensus after last night’s discussions was that our heads were spinning, and that social media is the good kind of ebola :-)  Thanks to Chris for coming up to Portland from the Bay Area; Chris has a lot of engaging and interesting topics of discussion, and if you weren’t at last night’s dinner you can read the Social Media Group’s blog to engage with Chris in those conversations.

Once the wiki is up, we’ll add a list of bloggers in the group and you’ll be able to read a mass of blog posts on last night’s dinner and their thoughts on social media.

The last meeting at Barley Mill was great fun (many pints of fun), but this time we are trying for a bit more of a ‘workshop’ format. We are taking over COR’s side room and should have a projector which will enable us to demonstate different aspects of Drupal to the group.
So, If you are new to Drupal, Seasoned Guru, or just curious what the heck it is, be sure to join us.
If you have a few “How do you _______ in Drupal” questions, this will be a great forum to get those answered.

The Importance of Social Media

Chris covers some excellent ground in the post, discussing major trends in social media, the talent that’s amassing around social media, and how social media will change work and the corporation in the near future - he even gives some love to Textpattern…yeah Textpattern!
