Cooking Up a Story

Cooking Up A Story

Social Bookmarking can help you discover great social media; how?  On the right-side of portlandsocialmedia.com there’s a del.icio.us link list for our tag pdxsocialmedia.  Marshall tagged a local video blog by the name of Cooking Up A Story - yeah Marshall is the first to tag pages with our del.icio.us tag

Cooking Up A Story is a video podcast shot here in the Northwest by Rebecca Gerendasy.  Cooking Up A Story is about food, recipes, good stories and community.  I’m a foodie that cooks less then I would like, so I’m fascinated by shows on the Food Network and other video podcasts about food; I’m drawn to shows about where a certain ingredient comes from, the history of  it, how it can be used in cooking, etc.  Ok, now I’m hungry, but not hangry.

The latest episode of Cooking Up A Story is Making Berry Delicious Pies.  Rebecca does a superb job of editing her shows to tell the story of the food; the quality is very high and the audio is perfect; aside from the quality, the flash player used on the blog makes it easy to navigate the latest food adventure; there’s a nice drop-down that gives a brief description next to each show, and a Director’s Journal proceeds each show giving an excellent synopsis with screenshots in case you have not made up your mind to watch the show or not.

Cooking Up A Story is fun, informative, engaging, and just niche enough to draw a great community of food lovers.  Check it out!

pdxsocialmedia Tag

Marshall made a great comment about a del.icio.us tag for the group, so you come across a blog entry or article about social media and you want to share it with the group, del.icio.us the link with the tag pdxsocialmedia. I’ve added a few links myself to get things started, feel free to add what you like.

December 5th Meeting Information

Ok well it was a trick finding a venue but we now have one.

6:30-9:30, Dec. 5, Fehrenbacher Hof

Fehrenbacher Hof
1225 SW 19th Ave
Portland, OR 97205
(503) 223-4493

The folks over at the Goose Hollow Inn/ Frehenbacher are really going the extra mile for us and accommodating a private meeting space. They have requested if at all possible for folks to put orders in early for food — Here is the menu * note the prices have changed on a few items and they have a few more options. They can provide can’s or bottled beer and provide some growlers of a few other beers(64oz) think pitcher, but have some limitations on draft beers etc. see menu for list of bottled beers.
My thought is to have the presentation in the Fehrenbacher Hof and possibly move over to the Goose Hollow for the mingling afterwards, this will make the bar selection a bit more extensive but we can work that out on the 5th. Again I want to emphasize how great these folks have been and kindly ask that you tip your servers well. They do have Wifi so if you like bring you gear and lets make some media! See you then.
